Dailymotion and Raindance host competition

Calling all future Oscar winners and Steven Spielberg wannabees!

Dailymotion, a video hosting website, has joined forces with Raindance.tv and the Raindance Film Festival to launch a film competition for independent shorts called: Short Circuit. Festival founder Elliot Grove introduces the contest in this video.

The new competition, which hopes to draw new works from filmmakers around the world, will give aspiring film directors the opportunity to submit films running no more than 60 seconds each.

The top ten films shortlisted by the team of judges and will be screened at the 2008 Raindance Film Festival. The top ten films directors will receive a pass to the Raindance Film Festival and a 12 month membership for raindance.tv. The top two of the original ten will also receive a £500 or $900 gift certificate for Raindance Training and the final winner will receive a one-week trip for two people to the 2009 Cannes Film Festival.

Telling your story in just 60 seconds requires great skill and creativity, but that single moment could be a major turning point in your filmmaking career. The contest began on September 8, 2008. Competitors can submit registration forms and upload films online at: http://www.dailymotion.com/sas/shortcircuit-2008 or mail a high quality DVD to Short Circuit, Raindance.tv, 38 Langham Street, London W1W 7AR, UK.

Submissions are open until September 23rd, 2008 and the winner will be announced on October 8, 2008 in London, England.
