Eye on Democracy

With less than three weeks to go until America votes, user-generated initiatives seem to be popping up daily.

One of these campaigns is the Massachusetts-centred Eye On Democracy contest which hopes to open up communication on the election process by allowing people to share their experiences (non-partisan, three minute videos, please) in the election process.

The contest organizers aren’t making it easy to enter, however. Instead of using YouTube or another video sharing site or application, entrants can submit their videos only through the mail (MassVOTE, Eye On Democracy Contest, 18 Tremont Street, Suite 608, Boston, MA 01208). The deadline for submissions is November 24, 2008.

Videos will be judged by employees of MassVOTE and a panel of judges and will be rated on originality, coherence, potential to inspire and technical execution.

The winning submission may be aired as part of a television campaign of contest sponsor MassVOTE and will also receive $2,500 in cheque. This contest is being promoted through Facebook and users can download a flyer on the contest to help promote the movement as well.
