MouthOff achieves viral success via mobile

MouthOff is a new iPhone application that is creating a lot of user-generated content (UGC), which is exactly what its creators had in mind. This UGC is a direct result of MouthOff’s viral marketing strategy.
The application shows a mouth – robot, vampire, monster, etc. - on screen that moves in real time with what the user is saying. A user holds the phone over their mouth as they speak to create a somewhat entertaining effect.
The Show Us Your MouthOff website is a collection of over a 100 videos that have been uploaded to YouTube and then fed to the website. These videos show people singing, reciting lines from movies, and delivering short messages using the application.
The application likely won’t be a long term success because of its one dimensional function, however the UGC campaign has at least captured peoples attention in the short term.
