For Europeans who ever thought of having their own radio station; welcome to Radionomy. The German company behind Radionomy has secured enough money to launch the website to public beta. This brings the total financing behind the project close to 2 million U.S.
Radionomy allows users to create their own online radio stations. Users can either use their own music or choose from the Radionomy library. Other content such as commentary, reports and podcasts are entirely up to the stations’ creators. Radionomy covers all costs associated with broadcasting and cover the royalties that are paid on the content from the library. If the user’s radio station becomes popular and develops a following, Radionomy is willing to share revenues with the user.
Although there are other companies that are doing this already, users have been attracted to the simplicity of Radionomy. The company has around 26,000 users registered for the invitation list. Radionomy is expecting to have 5,000 stations up by the summer.
