Pelmorex Media’s The Weather Network (Canada) has recently launched a revamped version of its website to incorporate a user-generated content portion as citizen journalism is on the rise.
With the help of Filemobile, an on-demand social media platform company, The Weather Network is engaging users and allowing them to become a part of the news broadcast.
Users will now find a “Your Weather” section on the site, where participants are asked to upload photos or videos of notable weather events from their communities. The Weather Network will be featuring submissions on both their English and French sites.
What sets this weather site apart from others is a unique feature published from Filemobile’s Media Factory platform. The top breaking news submissions are published to the automated broadcast system, ensuring that breaking news can go from cellphone to TV in a matter of minutes.
While editors are the ones highlighting and aggregating the most recent submissions, it is users who are finding the weather reports – which could be shown on-air.
The site also allows for users to search user-generated weather submissions from all across Canada on the web.

To whom it may concern:
Now I've been watching the weather network, faithfully since its birth in the 1980's & I've been
watching intently and I noticed that the broadcasters ie. Suzanne Leonard Feliz, Kim Macdonald
Chris Murphy, Carrie Oliver, etc. all repeat the words or dialect they're speaking every two to three
hours. How can this be? To my understanding you (the weather network) was suppose to be a
live nationwide service for all canadians. I really don't believe your live at all & you have some maj-
or cover – ups going on there. Please respond back, I'd like to think you guys & gals are 100%
bona fide.
Thank You for your cinsideration
