Gap Inc. rewards employees for giving back

Gap Inc. is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a new contest developed with Memelabs, a consumer and audience driven tool that organizes user contributed video submissions. The Ultimate Happy Hour Video Contest is a way for the company to celebrate and continue its commitment to doing what’s right.

While customers are a huge part of business, so are employees. They are the front line for companies in many cases, and they provide direct communication to customers.

So, while we talk a lot about user-generated content contests that engage customers and spread company messages, we shouldn’t forget our staff.

Employees worldwide are invited to participate by volunteering in their communities and sharing the experiences. Participants should select a community partner, plan or participate in a volunteer activity and film the experience. After the film is edited, videos can be posted to the www.volunteeringmakesyouhappy.com website. Participants can also vote on their favourite videos from June 1-12.

Prize money will be donated to the featured non-profit organization, with the first place winner taking away $10,000.

Gap Inc. generally focuses community investment in the areas of underserved youth and women. They encourage all of their employees to volunteer in these areas to be eligible for first, second or third place prizes. Fan favourite prizes will also be distributed for non-profits that are not related to Gap Inc.’s investment area.
