New contest employs very familiar strategy, its own: Brickfish

Social media marketing group Brickfish’s latest contest is not for a client or a brand but strictly an exercise in self promotion. The contest is called 4 Elements and was created to award scholarship money to students with creative tendencies and generate a little interest in the company behind the campaigns.
The 4 Elements contest asks people to upload creative interpretations of the four elements: earth, air, water
and fire. Brickfish is accepting a wider range of entries than it has in the past for client’s campaigns. This contest is welcoming photography, drawings, illustrations, paintings, digital art and even sculptures – all submitted using a photograph of the art of course.
The grand prize winner will win $750 cash or scholarship, the most viral winner takes home $500 cash or scholarship and to make it interesting one random voter or reviewer will win $150 cash or scholarship. The contest launched last week and runs until mid-October and surprisingly is open to U.S. and Canadian residents.
It is nice to see Brickfish using its own formula to generate interest in the company. Brickfish has been behind many of the campaigns that we have profiled here on Snoo.ws and is emerging as a leader in online marketing employing user-generated content (UGC).
