RumbaFish Technologies Inc., a Palo Alto based technology company is the latest start-up to enter the social media space and is taking its place in line to compete to be the go-to company for setting up interactive advertising campaigns.

The company previewed its platform at DEMOfall 09, the technology conference co-produced by VentureBeat. RumbaFish says it provides an easy way for clients to set up interactive online campaigns involving contests and user-generated content (UGC), leverage social activity and then update them with a single click.

RumbaFish has a self-serve wizard that allows businesses to build custom widgets for their websites as well as provides feedback analytics regarding influencers and referrals.

The product is entirely measurable whether you are looking to drive brand recognition or engage consumers through an online dialogue. RumbaFish, led by CEO and founder Michelle Bonat, is selling the idea of casting a wider net of solutions to increase your customer base exponentially.

Born from an online social game called stompBox tunes which was made successful on Facebook and won the SJ Business Journal Emerging Technology Internet award, Bonat saw an opening for a new idea.

“It struck me that if we could bring a ‘give to get’ type interaction to companies, so their customers could become engaged - and addicted, really - to their brand in a way that was plug and play, it would be very powerful … and RumbaFish was born!,” said Bonat in an interview with Microsoft’s Startup Zone after being named the Startup of the Day on June 19, 2009.

The client base ranges from small mom and pop shops to larger businesses and uses a performance based pricing - so businesses only pay for the kinds of user behaviours they are aiming for.
