Sony Ericsson has launched a fun new marketing campaign aimed at promoting the release of its new digital phone Satio. The company is hoping to spark a conversation among its consumers with the Hopper Invasion.

The Spark Something campaign all started with a flash mob of 500 space hoppers bouncing through the streets of Barcelona and the idea that you can spark something fun anytime, anywhere.

In a publicity stunt that rivals most, Sony Ericsson is now letting consumers participate in their own online flash mob featuring space hoppers designed by them.

Participants can visit the Hopper Invasion website and select everything from the colour, eyes, mouth and bounce level of their character. Once completed hoppers can even be named and saved to your computer to be used as wallpaper or go directly to your mobile phone. After you create your hopper participants will receive news from Sony Ericsson about when and where the flash mob will take place.

The Satio is the latest in entertainment experiences that allow consumers to tap into any content no matter where they are. Satio’s intuitive touch screen lets consumers view movies, videos, TV, photos, podcasts, listen to music or use the internet on the go.

“What makes Satio desirable is that it is a stylish phone that has all the media content anyone could want in one place, as well as so many outstanding features,” said Fredrik Mansson, marketing business manager at Sony Ericsson.
