Simpson’s writers are tired of doing all the work and as they so eloquently put it - too rich to care. Partnering with 20th Century Fox Television, fans are now being allowed a chance to Unleash Your Yellow in the latest user-generated content (UGC) contest that might see your new Simpson’s character on TV.

By visiting the Simpsons Character Contest website participants will need to create their own character including name, hair colour, alias, profession and a known catch phrase. The show’s executive producer Al Jean says that characters should be “pithy and funny” and will be judging the contest with show creator Matt Groening.

The campaign is a part of the Best. 20 Years. Ever, year-long global 20th anniversary celebration of all things Simpsons. The year will conclude on January 14, 2010 with a 3-D special produced and directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Morgan Spurlock.

The character that is chosen from the Unleash Your Yellow Character contest will appear in an episode of The Simpsons early next year. The show is already set to have a guest appearance from Coldplay’s Chris Martin and is scheduled to air January 31, 2010.

Entries will be accepted until October 28, 2009 whereupon they will enter the judging period, with the winner being notified on November 7, 2009. The grand prize winner will receive a round trip to Los Angeles to work with animation directors and producers from the show.
