Snickers is giving its man-fuel candy bar the starring role in a user-generated content (UGC) contest and challenging fans from around the globe to come up with a fantastic story that is ready for production.
The Filmaka’s Snickers Challenge is not looking for a commercial, however it is looking for original, authentic and entertaining Snickers brand content which audiences will engage with, enjoy and pass along to their friends and family.
Participants can submit a bid to produce a 30 second film that has an American sensibility and may be aired on U.S. television, and is therefore in HD format. The submission process is broken into two phases.
The first phase, which began November 6 and ends November 27, 2009 requires entrants to read the creative brief and write a pitch for production assignment including a script, a budget breakdown and links to previous work, if any.
Each bid will be evaluated by Filmaka to determine the top five submissions which will then move to the second phase where producers are given the opportunity to produce and deliver a short film based on their bid.
The five top bids that are selected and given the green light for production will be given a total budget of $10,000 USD. The first $5000 will be given to the producer once their bid is selected and the remaining award will be given once the final film is received and approved.
