Memelabs, a subsidiary of Invoke Media is the brains behind the Movember fundraising campaign that helps to raise money and bring awareness toward finding a cure for prostate and testicular cancer.

Based out of Vancouver, Memelabs has already created dozens of interactive campaigns online and this month marks its first step into what it hopes will be a regular public service contribution to help charitable organizations with the many marketing opportunities that user-generated content (UGC) video contesting offers.

The contest asks participants to grow a moustache for 30 days and create a Mo inspired video about your experience. Whether it’s a time lapse of your moustache’s growth or an inspirational story as to why you are participating, Memelabs wants to hear it.

The contest was also sure to include not only the moustache growing gender, but the mo sistas as well. Offering ideas such as, what makes that upper lip coat so attractive or whether you prefer the Handle bars over the Fu Manchu.

“What we wanted to do was challenge people to upload their mo-inspired videos,” said Nadia Nascimento, Memelabs strategist. “Not only mo brothers but mo sisters - the women who support them.”

Entrants can upload videos of no more than two minutes before December 1, 2009 to be entered into the contest. Using the viral power of social media, participants can share and point friends to their video to acquire more votes and encourage visitors to leave comments.

The grand prize winner of the Movember contest will receive a first edition Movember/LIVESTRONG T-shirt, Wahl All-in-One Trimmer, a set of Arbitrage limited edition Movember cuff links and a bottle of Canadian Club Classic 12 year.
