Siloam Mission is an incredible place, offering food, shelter, education and other programs to Winnipeg’s homeless and in-need population. Earlier this month ICUC teamed up with Siloam Mission to fundraise for a very special cause (read about this year’s event here).
Shop4Siloam is an annual project here at ICUC, where we collect money and food for Siloam – and we spread the word online through social media, posting about the event.
This year we saw great success! Monetary donations were collected online leading up to the event, and then on the actual day of Shop4Siloam, a team of ICUC employees along with a team from Silaom Mission went to Sobey’s St. Anne’s and collected more money as well as food donations.
This year was the third time we’ve done the Shop4Siloam project, and it was our best year yet!
Reports from the mission have shown that about 950 pounds of food were donated along with $1720. How amazing is that?!?!
We’d like to give a huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped out, donated, spread the word on social media and wished us luck. We’re so grateful to have so much support and to get to help out those who are in great need.
Judy Richici from Siloam Mission told me how pleased she was with this year’s effort and how the results paid off:
“ICUC staff once again blew us away with their energy and determination to collect food for Siloam Mission’s Easter dinner. Guests were treated to a delicious ham dinner with all the trimmings fresh from the Sobey’s food drive through their tireless efforts . Siloam cannot do what we do without tremendous volunteers and fundraisers and the ICUC Shop4siloam event is another example of the compassion shown by Manitobans towards the less fortunate. We are pleased to recognize ICUC as a Partner for Hope for their generous financial contribution as well. They were the evening meal sponsor on Friday April 20th. Thanks for all you do to make our city a better place.”
Kind words that makes us all happy to be part of something so special. Siloam Mission is an amazing organization, what an honor to help out. We’re so appreciative of everyone who helped – those in Winnipeg and those around the world who played a part too.
We’re looking forward to next year’s event and hope you’ll be excited to get involved then!
