Merry Christmas Snoo.ws readers! For those of you celebrating today, we wish you a great holiday. And no matter what holiday you may or may not observe, we hope that during this winter season, you’re able to take time out from work to be the people you care about the most.
For many families, celebrating the holidays in 2012 offers a very different experience than it used to in years past.
Now, with social media and digital access tethered to us everywhere we go (mobile devices, wifi, assuming that others will have Internet access at their homes while you’re visiting), the distance between folks geographically apart can be pulled in a bit closer.
I have family all up and down the East Coast of the US, and for us, getting everyone together can be pretty tough! Luckily though, technology helps us out. We can text, call, IM, and use social media messengers (like Facebook, as a prime example) to stay in touch. And better yet, we can video chat. Now with multi-caller tools available, we can feasibly patch in households from all over the place to have an online group chat with webcams rolling.
