Inside ICUC: Peyman Akhavan, the February Inside Scoop Interview!

Inside ICUC is our part of Snoo.ws that we use to share with the world what’s going on within our awesome company.  Every month we feature a different teammate in an The Inside Scoop interview and this month we have a real treat for you.  Are you ready to get motivated?

Peyman Akhavan is a real leader, full of positive energy and an amazing outlook on both life and work.  Snoo.ws caught up with this over-achiever for a fun chat that we’re excited to share with you!

Peyman is an Account Director for one of our top clients. He is 29 years old and lives in Montreal, Canada with his fiancee whom he’s marrying this coming June 15th. Before coming to ICUC, Peyman was working at a pharmaceutical company as Marketing Director and ran the first and biggest Persian Music portal on his spare time. Now, work has taken over his life and he has no time for anything else, yet he LOVES the challenge!

Snoo.ws: What do you love the most about your job here at ICUC?

Peyman: I love everything about my job at ICUC; it was almost a dream come true to find a job so challenging and fun. For many years I hoped to find a job that will pay me to be good at facebook! :)

Snoo.ws: After coming on board at ICUC, you were promoted right away.  What’s your secret to success?

Peyman: That’s a hard question! I think senior management should be the one to respond as to why I was chosen for the promotion, but I can tell you that I always believed that hard work pays off.

3 key factors can uncover the secret behind my rapid promotion:

1- Hard work:

When I first joined the company as a CSM on a new brand new account, the team was unfamiliar, experiences were limited and the directions set by the client were not defined. We were under lots of pressure taking the reigns on such a big account and I think that I satisfied the management by handling and sorting the team properly. I was working as CSM and Team Lead at the same time, I was almost present at all shifts and got about 3-4 hours of sleep a night, at most.

2- Having great support:

After weeks of working like a maniac, I finally got a Team Lead, not just “any” team lead; I got Edith Lozano, this girl would compete with me in working hard! She’s my right-hand woman and now my CSM.

3- Amazing guidance:

It should also be mentioned that Brandi Dupre had a big role in my advancement; she was my Managing Director at the time and taught me everything I needed to know and gave me the support I required to be able to manage my team the way that I did – all that while being so busy with a dozen other accounts that she had to handle!

Finally, working 70 hour weeks paid off, I got promoted to Account Director. I would like to prove myself even more and move up within this amazing company!

In short, the secret to success is: work hard, get support and always be open to learning.

Snoo.ws: What’s your favorite meme?

Peyman:

Snoo.ws: What’s your favorite social media platform?

Peyman: I have to say it’s facebook! Back in the days Orkut came close to being a great one but sadly didn’t make it.

Snoo.ws: What do you love to do for fun?

Peyman: I love to have friends over, go out with with my fiancee and friends or simply stay home and play some good ol’ Fifa on PS3!

Snoo.ws: As a leader, how do you motivate people?

Peyman: The way I like to motivate people is based on the person themselves. I like to understand their personality and really get to know them on some levels, then decide on a motivation style. Let’s be honest, different people get motivated differently; some like to be be encouraged and acknowledged, others like their mistakes and/or flaws to be pointed out in order for them pick up the slack and be better at what they do, believe it or not this is true! There is also a third group that simply motivate themselves, they are the type that will keep on getting better and motivated if you just let them be and not get in their hair.

Snoo.ws: If you won the lottery and had millions and millions of dollars, what would you do?

Peyman: I would probably give a considerable amount to a charity for children with cancer. I would personally hire a couple assistants since I work long hours and juggle so much, I’d give some away to my family members and keep the rest to travel with my wife to-be when I can take some vacation away from work!
