Are your fans socially devoted to you? As we wrap up February, I am reminded of a song from Grease, Hopelessly Devoted To You. This is the kind of loyalty brands look for. “There’s just no getting over you…” is the line you want to hear from your followers.
Fans who are devoted to your brand are beneficial, offering increased revenue, traffic and sharing. You don’t want brands eyeing other companies and breaking up with you. Social media is the perfect opportunity for getting your fans connected and engaged. The more earnest engagement that takes place between you and your social media followers, the deeper the bond that forms. Devoted fans strengthen your bottom line through positive WOM (word of mouth), online endorsements, enhanced social reach, increased brand awareness — just to name a few.
Here are five ways you can keep them socially devoted to your brand.
1. Play to your audience.
You need to get to know who your audience is. Know the social media sites they prefer, their demographics such as location, age, and so on. Determine the tone and voice your audience best identifies with and with that in mind, offer relevant content.
2. Make your followers part of the script.
In a movie script there is not just a monologue. It is a dialog between several people. The same is true on your social media sites. It should not be just the voice of your brand. It needs to be an interaction between you and your followers, one where their voice is heard, encouraged and appreciated.
3. Shine the spotlight on your fans.
Your fans are the heart of your business and they should receive VIP treatment. Reward them with special discounts and deals, hold contests and let them in on exclusives. Let them know you appreciate their loyalty.
4. Applaud your audience’s performance.
Show your loyal fans attention and appreciation. You can feature a photo of them, mention them in a post and give them a shout-out for their loyalty. Fans who really feel loved will, in turn, be even more loyal and passionate about your brand.
5. Let your fans see who you are behind the curtain.
Fans need to know that you are more than just a business. They need to see that there are people behind the brand. Be transparent and personal. When you engage with them, do so in the same way as you would face to face. Use photos to show that your company is made up of people and your fans will be able to relate to you in a deeper way.
Simply put: loyal fans and followers are valuable assets. As you focus on their needs and build real relationships, you’ll make devoted and passionate fans of the users that visit your social media channels. If you play your part with consistent engagement and make them feel important and vital, they will reward you with passionate loyalty.
