This past Wednesday ICUC Moderation Services sponsored and attended our third – and best yet - BlogWell event on this year’s tour. Past tour stops ICUC has sponsored and I have personally attended included Cincinnati and Seattle, both good events but this event was different – it was great. I suspect its close proximity to Chicago and the McDonald’s Campus location of this event drew a more senior level crowd then I have come to expect from BlogWell events, and this was a positive for ICUC and other sponsors such as Radian6 and Marketwire. When you become well known for your social media use, such as airline company JetBlue, it’s hard to take a backseat to your legal department - and even harder when your fans have high expectations of transparency and tell-all mentality.
Monday afternoon flight attendant Steve Slater became fed up after having an altercation with a passenger. The 28 year veteran got on the in-flight PA system, dropped a few expletives and grabbed two beers before exiting on the emergency chute our of the plane and walking off the tarmac to his car. So many brands are jumping to crowd source promotional videos, advertisements, viral videos and more. While relinquishing control to consumers to create a 30 second clip can be risky, it takes a whole new kind of bravery to hand it over for an entire movie, as Honda did with Live Every Litre.
The Live Every Litre campaign was developed to promote the company’s new CR-Z hybrid car. The company states that instead of pummeling consumers with the usual messages of fuel economy and technology innovation, they wanted their consumers to trust the company and get on with the “business of enjoying the CR-Z.” (more…)
