People are getting smarter about the environment. We are doing more to reduce our waste, recycle and pay for what we use through things like carbon offsets. The North Face and Polartec are teaming up to recognize some of the dedicated people who make a difference in these areas every day, with a user-generated content (UGC) contest called Be an Eco Champion. IKEA bags the bag

IKEA has decided to join the eco-friendly ranks on behalf of the environment, and bag the bag. In an online user-generated content contest, created by Brickfish, IKEA is asking users: “Where has your Blue Bag been?”

IKEA is already doing quite a bit for the environment. With a large portion of its products being made from renewable sources and encouraging customers to return specific items for recycling, the chain is bringing that concept to the online world of marketing. (more…)

Nike shifts to marketing strategy users can relate to

Microsoft has returned to the social media marketing solution, Brickfish, for a second user-generated content (UGC) campaign aimed at creating their own brand evangelists.

The “Windows Brand Ambassador” program is a three phase social media campaign where users are asked to submit photos, videos, or blogs that showcase why they use PCs and what makes them brand ambassadors. (more…)

She’s got legs and knows how to upload them

If you’re an American woman who feels your legs are your best asset, the time has come to prove it.

Veet, a company that specializes in hair removal products, launched a campaign this week called Spray on Your Summer Smooth. Veet asks women to upload pictures of their legs and explain why their legs are their best asset. Users can browse the images and vote on the best legs and the best explanations. The contest is to promote Veet’s new spray on hair removal cream.

The contest closes June 10 with the choosing of 10 finalists, plus a sign up winner and the “most viral” winner. The winner will be chosen by Veet and will win a trip for two to Barbados. (more…)

Brickfish courting teen fashion designer wannabes

Brickfish.com, a company that creates online brand engagement campaigns, launched a new user-generated content (UGC) contest this week with client David’s Bridal. The contest asks females between the age of 13 and 19 to design their own dream prom outfit using the Brickfish designed “Promtourage” tool.

The “Promtourage” tool at DavidsProm.com allows the users to design their outfits from head to toe. This includes dress, shoes and accessories. The tool also allows users to design outfits for their prom dates and friends. David’s Bridal then asks the contestants to talk about how they would change the world given the opportunity. The website gives a couple different suggestions like curing cancer and eradicating homelessness. All entries are asked to talk about how their particular style would affect their plan. (more…)
