Post-it notes want to know where you stuck it

Can Post-it notes really go where no other notes can go? That is the question 3M, makers of Post-it notes, is letting users of the product prove with a new video contest titled You Stuck it Where?

The contest is set up on a YouTube brand channel to make it easy for people to upload and vote on videos. The contest runs until August 31, 2009, with winners being announced in October. The top video creator will win $10,000, second - $2,500, third - $1,500 and the seven remaining top 10 finalist will receive $1,000. (more…)

YouTube set to divide (itself) and conquer

A redesign of YouTube that will take advantage of its monetizing potential is in the works. ClickZ reported that the new layout will clearly separate user-generated content (UGC) from premium content.

The reason for the change is directly related to the inability of YouTube to post dramatic profits despite a staggering amount of traffic on the website. YouTube is ranked the number one online video viewing website with one million unique visitors and five billion videos viewed per month. (more…)

TurboTax using social media to drive buzz

TurboTax is looking to social media to create buzz for its home tax service this tax season. The company is using Facebook, MySpace and Twitter to drive engagement with potential customers.

The tax-preparation software developers designed a contest called the Super Status Contest. The contest asks users to answer questions such as, “Who is more deserving of a tax bailout and why? E.T., Curious George, or Shrek?” Users then respond using Twitter, Facebook or MySpace and all answers must contain the word TurboTax. (more…)
