Fans personalize the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay

MSN Canada has launched a website that follows and personalizes the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay through user-generated content (UGC). Partnering with Canada’s Broadcast Media Consortium fans will now be able to take part in the cross country event.

Produced by Infusion, Digiflare and Filemobile the 2010 Olympics Torch Relay website allows participants to upload their very own torch story in three easy steps. Fans can create a torch relay contributor account through the event campaign website or login through Facebook Connect. Participants must chose their home province and city or the community closest to them and upload a comment, photo or video story and then submit it. (more…)

Oprah’s Book Club gets interactive

In a first-time effort to develop an interactive user-friendly live event of the famous talk show host and humanitarian Oprah Winfrey is joining forces with CNN.com and Facebook to present an Oprah’s Book Club interactive web event.

The special event, which is set to take place on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 9pm ET/6pm PT, will be streamed live and simultaneously from CNN.com’s video player on both Oprah.com and CNN.com and will make use of Facebook Connect to allow participants to interact while viewing the webcast. (more…)

Campbell’s nominates Canada’s Most Valuable Coach

Campbell’s Chunky soup has just launched a new online community with a user-generated content (UGC) contest looking for Canada’s Most Valuable Coach. As the official nutrition partner of the Coaching Association of Canada, the company wants to honour and recognize deserving coaches who work hard for their teams.

Coach nominations can be uploaded to the contest web page from now until January 6, 2010, with a limit of one nomination per coach. All coaches will be evaluated in three main categories including, personal values, social values and work values. (more…)

MTV’s 2009 VMA’s become more interactive

Social media is making its way into more and more live events. Last night saw the use of live video streaming using Facebook Connect and a Twitter correspondent for the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards in New York City.

Visitors to the site were able to comment on a live video stream through personal Facebook pages. Not only could you make your own commentary, but visitors were able to see what others were saying throughout the broadcast. (more…)

NBC.com unleashes Facebook Connect login potential
