Yesterday I helped my boss and president of ICUC Moderation Services move some electronic equipment into his new house. I hung out there for a few hours and watched as he and his wife positioned and put away items as they arrived - plates, couches, etc. (more…)

Earlier this week tech site Engadget announced that they would be shutting down comments due to excessive trolling on its comments sections after extensive coverage of the release of Apple’s iPad.

The company, which regularly covers Apple has been criticized for being overly positive about its products. Bloggers are also speculating on whether Engadget’s comment feature shut down has anything to do with pressure from its advertisers.

Joshua Topolsky announced that the move had “zero business angle”, and was simply because they were sick of the personal attacks on community members and editors. (more…)

This has been an exciting month for me, truly a month of firsts - I closed my first deal, I took my first business trip with ICUC Moderation Services, I was in Toronto for the first time and I must say the things I saw were incredible. The UK’s most visited online news site, Mail Online has stopped moderating comments left behind by readers. The recent switch poses not only a risk to the site itself, however it may see advertisers pulling placements due to inappropriate content. (more…)
