The That’s a wRAP contest encourages families to tap into their creative sides and pay tribute to the signature paper wrap that has graced its distinctive bottle for more than 170 years - in the form of a rap song.

KickApps launches new studio app

KickApps launched its new KickApps App Studio yesterday, which the company hopes will become a new marketplace for developers to create and distribute applications.

Formerly called the Widget Studio, the new Apps Studio makes it easier to manage user comments, permits community members to rate one another, and enhances the member privacy features. Get all the highlights here.

Since the original launch last year, KickApps has continued to add functionality including third party web services (like video ad networks). The newest release now allows more third party applications including Meebo and Yahoo! Maps. (more…)

National Geographic pushing boundaries on travel videos

National Geographic has just launched the beta version of Everyday Explorers, a new user-generated zone on the Web for travellers to post video from their favourite places around the world. True to National Geographic’s brand, the videos are amazing snippets from exotic locales around the world.

Favourite videos include reef diving in Hawaii, rush hour in Saigon and a time lapse video of a nest of love birds. So far, the quality seems to be a step above much of what passes for travel videos elsewhere on the Web. National Geographic built the application using KickApps and unveiled it recently at the Omma Global conference. (more…)
