The Philippines target young tourists

The Philippines Department of Tourism has launched a new social media campaign to attract a young demographic of tourists. The new contest called “Remix Your Holiday” asks users to use stock footage to create a montage about the Philippines for a chance to win a trip for two to the island nation.

This contest lets users build their videos on the Awesome Philippines website using the simple movie editing software designed by Reality Digital. Users can pick and edit clips, add music and transitions and then submit or share the video montage with friends. (more…)

Perkett PR adds new social media clients

Social media is driving growth in the PR business as agencies become better at steering brands through user-generated content and social networks. Just look at PerkettPR which announced yesterday it had landed two new media clients: DesignerPages.com and Reality Digital.

DesignerPages.com is a New York-based online community for architects and designers to search, save and share product information. It’s like an online product catalogue that permits vendors to post and update their product listings while allowing end users to assemble building materials and vendor lists for their own unique needs. Website publishers need to moderate UGC more: survey

Website publishers should be taking user-generated content more seriously, according to a recent survey by social media platform provider Reality Digital. The survey showed that 73 per cent of respondents felt they don’t do enough to moderate and monitor UGC.

The company also reported that most marketers and publishers predicted that user-generated video would be the biggest growth area for online advertising in the next year. At the same time, however, some agencies were discouraged from putting UGC sites into their media plans for fear of damage to their brands.
