Suzuki International Europe is well known for its small cars making a big difference in the lives of their owners. The new Alto is supposedly doing just that and is running a user-generated content (UGC) contest on YouTube to find out what small things you think make a difference.

The new Suzuki Alto combines five-door practicality with small car design making manoeuvring the streets with low carbon emissions not only an enjoyable choice but an economical one as well. (more…)

Nuclear Age Peace Foundation looking for explosive ideas

The Nuclear Age Peace Foundation has launched a new contest to get ideas on how the world might become free of nuclear weapons by 2020.

By holding a video contest a group can generate a lot more than just interest in a cause. Because contests generate material a group can use in further promotions, a video contest could become a valuable source of cost effective promotional material. Most foundations, charities, non-profits and not-for-profits run on very strict budgets and rely on donations to survive, a contest like this may yield material that otherwise would have cost thousands of dollars to produce. Intuit offers $300K in prize money to small businesses

Intuit, the maker of business related software, is in the final stages of an online video contest that has seen some very inspiring and entertaining entries. Good idea: This baby’s a far cry

There has been a lot of buzz online that good marketing campaigns require a user-generated content (UGC) component if they are going to make it with consumers. However, I am beginning to wonder if some companies are integrating UGC just for the heck of it, like Hyland’s Before and Happy After Hyland’s Video Contest.

Hyland’s, one of the largest producers of all-natural, homeopathic medicines, began a video contest at the end of April 2009 to promote its line of teething tablets and gels. Visitors to the site are encouraged to create 90-second videos of their babies teething and the after effects of using the medication. (more…)
