Flood coverage on YouNews

A new company called Broadcast Interactive Media played a major roll in broadcasting user-generated content (UGC) from the floods in North Dakota and Minnesota over the last couple weeks.

The platform called YouNews was employed by the NBC and CBS affiliates in North Dakota and western Minnesota. YouNews allows news broadcasters to show and accept new flood related UGC on their websites. All content submitted is fed back to Broadcast Interactive Media where it is monitored and compiled by region. It is then sent back to the local stations either as montages or as the original videos. This content can then be found on the stations website or on stations television broadcasts. This process has allowed networks in more than 60 markets to take advantage of UGC. (more…)
